Most people know what they like in a glass and cannot say it out loud. Swirl asks five questions instead: body, sweetness, acidity, intensity, tannins. Each answer picks a colour, each colour takes the shape of the Swirl S, and the five shapes rotate around one centre in seventy two degree steps until the whole taste is one soft, readable sign. The shape and the size never change, so two drinkers can be compared at a glance, and the only thing that ever differs is the colour that came out of their own answers.

The Swirl S, the vector every gradient is built from
One characteristic placed at the start of the swirl
A finished Winesign screen, Jade, with the five characteristics read out
The sweetness row, dry, on its own gradient scale
The colour grid, five characteristics at three levels each
